We are located in Newman Hall, room 121. Service is provided by a registered nurse and three Nurse Practitioners with different areas of professional expertise. With the exception of immunizations and lab procedures, all services are free. The focus of the Health Services Clinic is on health promotion, disease prevention and holistic health. All Bellarmine students; full time, part time and graduate students, both residents and commuters, may use any of the services offered.

Nurse practitioners are available by appointment. Please visit the Patient Portal to see their availability.

Use of the Health Services Clinic is completely voluntary. Bellarmine University follows HIPAA regulations. All health records are confidential and, except in cases specified by law, may not be disclosed except when authorized by the student.

Services are offered to all students currently enrolled including part time, commuters, and graduate students. Students that graduate, transfer or are no longer enrolled for any reason are no longer eligible. The clinic is happy to help these students with a referral.

Regarding COVID-19 

In an effort to ensure the health and safety of our patients and clinic staff, all scheduling, patient check in, and vitals triage will be done via phone. This means our staff will speak to all patients via phone to determine if your visit can be completed through a tele-health appointment using Microsoft Teams or an in-person visit at the clinic. Walk-ins are greatly discouraged; appointments must be made by calling 502-272-8313. A trained Medical Assistant will ask you a series of non-invasive questions regarding your symptoms and they will schedule your appointment, provide further instructions, and verify your contact information for future correspondence. Our website will be updated regularly, as government and university requirements and regulations change.

The Bellarmine University Health Services Department seeks to enhance the educational experience by providing quality treatment, programming, and education aimed at maintaining physical health and wellbeing as well as empowering students to make self-directed, informed decisions about their personal health and wellness, and thus become informed consumers of health care.

Nurse Practitioners: Clinic appointments are scheduled with NPs who can assess acute illness, perform physicals, and write prescriptions if appropriate at no charge. Available appointment hours are subject to change each semester. NPs are not available over the summer or any day classes are not in session! Please make an appointment by calling 502.272.8313 or visiting the patient portal and log in using your Bellarmine credentials. 

Registered Nurse: The RN can administer TB tests, immunizations, and allergy shots as well as assess, refer, and provide over the counter medications for acute symptoms when appropriate. Available hours are Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM, by appointment (walk-ins are strongly discouraged due to COVID-19 restrictions). Nursing staff provides:

  • Assessment (via appointment by calling 502.272.8313 or visit the patient portal and log in using your Bellarmine credentials)

  • Referral to physicians and clinics for medical treatment if desired or necessary

  • Over the counter medication, when appropriate

  • Wellness, diet, exercise, health information and counseling

  • Allergy antigen injections (specific physician orders are required, please contact the Director of Health Services in advance at mkimble@bellarmine.edu for complete details)

  • Vaccines such as TB, tetanus, and Flu shots. Some others may available on request.

  • Emergency response on campus.

    The focus of the Health Services Clinic is on health promotion, disease prevention and holistic health. Use of the Health Services Clinic is completely voluntary. Financial charges for any labs or prescriptions are the patients’ responsibility. There are several pharmacies and clinics nearby including Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid and there is one pharmacy that delivers to campus. Insurance companies cannot be billed nor fees charged to student accounts for any clinic services. Bellarmine University follows HIPAA and FERPA regulations. All health records are confidential and, except in cases specified by law, may not be disclosed except when authorized by the student.

FREE Norton eCare Video Visits: Fast & Convenient

Through a generous grant from Norton Healthcare, Bellarmine students can receive 24/7 FREE convenient medical care through Norton eCare video visits. This allows quick, non-urgent care from your home or residence hall. 

Video visits are a great choice for after-hours diagnosis and treatment of minor conditions such as allergies, cold, flu, cough, fever, insect bites, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, eye soreness, skin rashes, sore throats and urinary tract infections. You can receive a prescription, if needed, during your eCare visit. This service is provided in addition to the health services already available on campus during the academic year, and is available over the summer for students residing in Kentucky and Indiana.

Students with mobility issues

Please contact the Health Services Office if you have mobility issues and require our services. We are pleased to come to you if you are unable to make it to our offices. For a temporary handicap parking pass, please contact the Office of Public Safety. For further information regarding mobility issues please contact the Office of Disability Services: at 502.272.8490.

The clinic can also provide small sharps boxes free of charge. Used sharps boxes should be returned to the Health Services Clinic for proper disposal.

Emotional Health

For emotional or mental health issues and referrals to psychologists or psychiatrists, Bellarmine University has a fully staffed Counseling Center. Please call 502.272.8480. 

Private breast pumping area for nursing mothers

Bellarmine recognizes the importance of mothers being able to pump in a private location when away from their babies. For this reason, Bellarmine provides three convenient pumping locations that are shielded from view and free from intrusion. These rooms all have electrical outlets, and refrigerators are available in the room or nearby. For access privacy code, please contact the Human Resources Office at 502.272.8435.
